What is your understanding of the Region Advisor role and how does your experience relate to the role?
The Region Advisor (RA) role provides knowledge, training, mentoring, and coaching to support District Leaders in their achievement of the mission. The RA provides a conduit for strategy sharing where Districts with different needs come together to find or share solution options. My 18 years in Toastmasters, coupled with 40 years experience in Clinical leadership including training, strategy & practices consulting, and operations, well prepared me to collaborate with diverse groups of individuals, mentor/coach developing leaders, and brainstorm solutions while following guiding principles.
What is your experience with coaching individuals and/or teams?
I have extensive coaching experience in my clinical career and Toastmasters. While serving as District Director, I had the privilege of coaching and mentoring a new Division Director who moved straight from being Club President. This Toastmaster was open and willing to grow using all resources shared. We had an agreed upon schedule and expected knowledge research for each meeting. Meetings started as bi-weekly for the 1st quarter with intense knowledge sharing, Q&A as well as strategic planning. We transitioned to monthly touch points in sync with all Division Directors. This Division Director used their new skills to quickly support their Area Director team and respective clubs, then reached out as needed for guidance when needed. Their commitment to growth as a leader in Toastmasters resulted in the Division completing the term as President's Distinguished.
Why are you interested in serving as Region Advisor?
I love mentoring, coaching and training to support fellow Toastmasters developing their leadership abilities. In my 18 years in Toastmasters on a progressive leadership track, it is powerful to witness leaders solving a challenge or working through strategy towards goals. I want to continue to be a support sounding board where leaders realize with each collaboration they move closer towards success. The Region Advisor role is the clear path in which I can pay forward all the knowledge I've gained and shared with me on my leadership journey.
