What is your understanding of the Region Advisor role and how does your experience relate to the role?
I see the role of the Region Advisor as a mentor to the District leaders, to support them and facilitate the tools that would assist them in fulfilling the District mission and their Districts' targets. On a professional level, I have been supporting different markets in the Middle East and North Africa for nearly 20 years in elevating their hearing health care services and business strategies by guiding them on implementing best practices, introducing them to the latest approaches and techniques, advances in technologies, while at the same time abiding by the code of ethics while fulfilling our duties, so while we create success stories in different markets we need to ensure that none of them is at the expense of serving our patients in the best way while utilizing the best management methods.
What is your experience with coaching individuals and/or teams?
Professionally, I have coached and guided professionals from different parts of the region for over 20 years in handling daily challenges in the field whether dealing with clients or other professionals, and how to maintain professionalism while at the same time achieve the planned objectives and create success stories. I have a large team of employees in my company that I have been supervising and coaching for over 16 years now and how to create camaraderie and respect among them and nurture a healthy working environment that would positively impact the success of company as a whole. I have utilized the leadership lessons I have learnt while serving in different leadership roles in managing and guiding the team members to achieve the planned objectives, like conducting meetings with the Division Directors along with their Area Directors and involving the District team members to analyze the issues from the ground reality and brainstorm ideas and solutions. During my term as District Director, 4 major in person events (leadership summit in Dubai/ Hall of Fame events in Muscat/ Abu Dhabi and Amman) were planned and executed with the members, not restricted only to the District team members or their sub committees, in 4 different locations, utilizing their expertise and empowering them to be part of the success of these events that were planned and done by them and for them. I also had constant committee meetings with different teams and different team members to discuss their issues and giving them guidance on seeking solutions, and many times I got solutions from them to some of the challenges I faced myself so it was a win win situation for all parties involved.
Why are you interested in serving as Region Advisor?
One of my objectives in life has always been personal growth while nurturing the growth of those around me. This is in line with one of the core values, which is Service to the members and dedication to Excellence. I feel a deep sense of gratitude for everything that I have achieved thus far both in my personal as well as professional career by being a Toastmaster, and the District leadership experience has broadened my perspective on things. I believe it is my obligation to serve my dear fellow members and leaders and possibly instill the same spirit and enthusiasm that I carry within them so that they may carry on the mission of Toastmasters International to future generations.
